HRSN climate benefits
If you’re an EOCCO member and hot weather, cold weather or air quality make it harder to stay healthy, you may qualify for climate-related devices. These devices help keep your home safe and comfortable, so your health doesn’t get worse when the weather or air quality changes.
Climate benefits are available at no cost to eligible members.
What's covered
EOCCO can provide one of each of the following items (if you qualify):
- Air conditioner: Stay cool during hot weather
- Air filtration device: Helps clean the air inside your home
- Mini refrigerator: Keeps medicine and breast milk cold
- Portable power supply: Keeps your medical devices running if you lose power
- Space heater: Stay warm when it’s cold
- Help with setup: Someone can help bring in and unbox your device if needed
You can request new devices once every 36 months, and air filter replacements once a year.
Note: None of the devices we offer require installation, but we can help with bringing the device in and unbox it.
What’s not covered
- Extra devices if you already received one in the last three years
- Devices if your home doesn’t have working electricity
- Items only for personal comfort (must be medically needed)
Who can get this benefit?
You may qualify if you:
- Are an EOCCO member with Oregon Health Plan (OHP) medical coverage under a CCOA or CCOB plan
- Have electricity in your home and can safely plug in and use the device
- Have a health condition or medical need that could get worse from heat, cold, smoke or power loss
- Have not received the same device from another program in the last three years
- AND meet at least one of these life situations:
- You’ll be starting Medicare and OHP in the next three months
- You just joined Medicare and OHP in the last nine months
- You may lose your housing soon or spend most of your income on rent
- You got care at Oregon State Hospital or a large treatment center in the last year
- You were released from jail or prison in the last year
- You’ve been in foster care or the child welfare system in Oregon
- You are a young adult with special healthcare needs
How to apply
- Make sure you qualify (check the list above)
- Fill out the online (HRSN) request form
- EOCCO will review your request and let you know by email or mail if you’re approved
- If approved, your devices will be delivered to your home. (Note: We cannot deliver to P.O. boxes)
