Gender Transition Coverage

On June 19, 2020, the federal government removed gender identity and sexual orientation from the definition of “sex” in the Affordable Care Act nondiscrimination section (Section 1557).

This change does not affect your Oregon health Plan (OHP) / EOCCO benefits or coverage. Gender transition services such as hormone therapy, counseling and some surgeries will still be covered.

EOCCO follows state and civil rights laws. We cannot treat people unfairly in any of our services or programs because of a person’s:

  • Age
  • Color
  • Disability
  • Gender identity
  • Marital status
  • National origin
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Sex or sexual orientation.

You can find our full nondiscrimination notice here: https://www.eocco.com/nondiscrimination
