The 13th Annual EOCCO Summit was held on Thursday, September 18th at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton, Oregon.
The EOCCO Summit is free and open to all professionals serving EOCCO members, including providers, clinic staff, traditional health workers, community-based organizations, wraparound services coordinators and all other member advocates to help discuss how to improve care for our community. This event is approved for 4.5 CME credits!

This presentation will highlight the critical role of Emergency Medical Services in addressing the opioid crisis. Presenters will explore how EMS providers, often the first point of contact for individuals experiencing opioid overdose, can significantly impact patient outcomes by initiating buprenorphine administration in the prehospital setting. The discussion will emphasize the safety, effectiveness, and straightforward nature of this intervention, advocating for its establishment as a standard of care to improve treatment retention and reduce all-cause mortality post-non-fatal overdose.

In 2023, Eastern Oregon CCO sponsored a grant program for local county jails to build capacity for opioid-use disorder treatment with medications such as buprenorphine and methadone.
